hi folks
just thought I'd say hi and what a great resource this site is. Hoping to start building in the next month or so- having new patio laid together with a pad for a shed so going to ask the contractor to lay the slab for a 42 Pompeii oven while they're about.
basically going to use the forno plans- did anyone make the plinth bigger to accommodate more insulation and still build a brick enclosure for the dome?
Any re ommendations for good discounts on materials at present?
all the best

Hi Paulk Are you sure you need such a large oven? I followed the 36 inch Forno Bravo plans and am currently building another in the UK this time. They are very big when completed. You could easily fit two pizzas in at one go in a 36" but to be honest they cook so quick it isn't worth it size isn't everything on this occasion. I've just completed the base for one which is 62 inches wide and the one in France is 2 meters wide (see picture. that's the base not the oven) It really is worth the effort. I've cooked pizza pulled pork curry bread grilled sausages chops and all manner of things in my oven in France and despite having some disasters ( I was very drunk at the time) I can wholeheartedly say it was a good decision to build one.

Hi Sparkles.
How long did that mosaic take (is it all individual)?
I am considering a mosaic design, interested to gauge how long it may take?

If you're dead set on a mosaic, that's definitely the way to go; I did mine freehand, and despite the one-off finish, it was a real pain ! I never want to see another tile cutter as long as I live !

Love the one-off look, if I do, it will definitely be freehand.
*Apologies for the hijack paulk!
