Thanks for posting a great deal. I've already got a PM900 Major, otherwise I would have been in there!

I have a major. I would recommend it over any of the other "pretty" stand mixers which tend to be underpowered.

Yes, the Kitchenaids look pretty, but the Kenwoods do the business. I also like the fact that there's a great range of attachments for them, many of which you can pick up for good prices on Ebay. All the high speed and front outlet attachments fit practically all the Chefs and Majors (apart from a few weird variant models) from the A901 onwards, which I think is fantastic compatability. If you're feeling flush, get the spiral stainless steel dough hook for the Major. Its spiral shape kneads the dough much better than the standard one. For my dough kneading jobs I've moved on to a Bosch Universal Plus, but that's another story. The Major will still still do a great job. Here's a link to a pdf with dough capacities. I think Kenwood have since downgraded maximum dough weights, but I think it's more a case of covering the you know what!. I used to hammer my old A901 with dough made with 3lbs flour and it's still going strong in my daughter's possesion. Lance

I'd echo what you say about KitchenAid, as although I wouldn't be without mine, I've become expert at changing the 'fail safe' plastic gear !
