Hello all I'm making a pizza oven or rather my own design which will have a shelf half way up the dome so I will have 2 cooking levels. Oh yes first build and was wondering if anyone has any ideas of how to install this shelf. I can easily place my 50 x 50 single fire brick on some stone supports but I'm concerned about it cracking and falling to the floor of my oven! I'm temped to place in a steel shelf for the stone but I know the steel is going to expand with the heat and with a heavy firebrick on top will it slip enough or push on the sides of the oven? The build is on going. Can I add a picture? First post. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated Cheers Gerry

Wow Gerry, that's a question I haven't seen come up beforehand! Your build is very neat, congratulations. Are you planning on having a single fire at the bottom/ back? I guess as long as you leave space for the heat to rise you could just prop it up as you suggest. Are you going to enclose the front at all to help retain the heat? I fear for your eyebrows! I'm a clay oven girl myself so can't offer any firm advise, but good luck with the double decker idea!
