Hi, can anyone tell me the best(cheapest) source of firebricks in Ireland? I'm about to start a barrel vault build from the book 'The bread Builders'. I'll most likely use 2nd hand red brick for the walls and dome but need firebricks(90 I think) for the hearth. I'm going to stick rigidly to the plans in the book because I havent got a clue what I'm doing w.r.t. WFOs but I can mix soem cement and lay a few blocks....

Hi Lars,
Most builders providers have them. I live near Drogheda and used both Eddies Hardware and DPL. Bricks were around 2 euro each with VAT and does not vary much between them. Tip: make sure you get the bricks from the same batch (or pellet). I got a real mix when mine were delivered and there were various sizes some up to 5mm longer and 2-3mm wider. This makes it a nightmare when you are laying the hearth as you end up with large gaps. Can't tell you how much time I spent measuring each one and trying to make them fit like a jigsaw puzzle!

Hi Lars, We regularly sell to Ireland the price is £1.23 for a 230x114x76mm Firebrick and don't forget if you use the forum code you get 10% off. and if its Republic of Ireland there is no VAT to pay. Delivery is £110 per 1000kg of material ordered. I hope this helps.
If I can help further please let me know?
regards
Liam
