Hi
We live on the Shropshire/Staffordshire border and have just ordered a large wfo from Bernito Ovens bernitopizzaovens.co.uk/ .
These ovens are made about 20mins drive from where we live and we've just ordered the large Bernito oven after a demo of the mid-sized one. Bernard (the owner of the company) certainly seems knowlegeable, experienced and straightforward. In less than 30 mins, in temperatures around 0C and using only half a dozen small sticks (4 or 5 ins long), the temperature of the base in the oven was over 300C - no doubt it would have been higher if we hadn't distracted Bernard by continually asking questions so that he neglected the fire and left the oven opening pointing into the chill breeze! Anyway, at those sort of temperatures the majority of the dome was cold, with only the part directly over the fire providing our hands with any relief from the freezing conditions. The base was quite hot but apparently it has to be thicker on the large oven we've ordered so it will be more insulative. As far as we are concerned this make of oven has one great advantage - it is comparatively very light because of the materials used in its construction and comes on a frame with wheels so - firstly - we don't need planning permission (we live in a property that the LA has removed "permitted development" rights from so we would have to make an application to build a fixed oven) and, secondly, we can use it in either the rear patio or our front garden.
Delivery is scheduled for 25th February - a date of our choice, weather permitting, so I will let you know how things worked out after then.
