Hi there all, Just thought I would pop this on to show my blistering Clay oven. I did bulid my own from powerdered clay but on first firing the top blew off (and I mean blew off). Anyway we searched the ebay and Alison found this and we won it for £50. The inside is made of terracotta and the outside is clay of some sort. It is stamped blistering clay oven on the top.# Anyway here is a video of a typical Pizza party www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGaLAY8IxLE&list=UUdZGCq0i6Y0VVtwH_Q6kuYg&index=2&feature=plcpIf anyone as any ideas for filling the crack on the outside please yell. Thanks Rick

Hello Rick.......welcome to the forum
Your video is very impressive.....great results.
Not sure on the composite of the exterior of your oven......if it's clay you can parge it up with more clay.....the blue/grey puddling is good for this. If it's refractory concrete then it depends how wide the cracks are when fired. A lot of ovens have hairline cracks due to the pure nature of the heat these ovens generate. If it's wider than 5mm when fired, then I would chase the crack out (when cold) to a depth of 15mm by 15mm wide. If the outside of the oven is barely warm to the touch when fired, then you could use flexible tile adhesive to fill the crack. If it's any more than warm to the touch then you will have to use refractory mortar for the fix........4:1:1:1 sand, lime, powdered fire-clay and cement.
Terry
p.s.....sorry about the previous cock-up.
