Sorry, a bit new to this - have spent, the last week clearing the space ready to start building my base. There is lots of useful info on here about bases, but I haven't seen anyone post about a base with a curved side. Due to space would like,to curve, the left, side of my base, to roughly follow the outline of the oven dome, plus a reasonable excess.
However, I have only seen square and rectangular insulation boards posted so far. Can these boards be cut to a size and shape desired? If not can they be purchased in shapes?
thanks in advance.

If you mean the cal sil or similar insulation boards then yes they can and are easy to cut. I used a jigsaw to cut mine and cut it so extended past the size of the dome t roughly the point where it would meet the outside of the insulation blanket (or vermicrete if your going that way) the health and safety concious on here would tell you to wear a suitable mask as it produces tiny fibres, think most of the boards made now are body soluble so limited risk

Many thanks Bry I have a follow up question. My base has a curved edge on one side, and the structural hearth is made of reinforced concrete lintels in a fan shape (see image). Inevitably there are therefore gaps between the lintels. I intend to place two layers of 25mm cal sil board directly on to the lintels, and then my firebrick hearth tiles on that, then my dome. Will the two layers of cal sil board, plus the hearth tiles provide a sufficiently insulated hearth, or do I need a solid later beneath them, such as concrete slabs on my lintels? Thanks for the help.

I think you'll be fine; my oven works perfectly well with just 25mm of vermiculite board under a layer of storage heater blocks.
