Hi there, I plan on buying a bernito oven in the coming months. Being skint lol, ive tried to build the base on a tight budget through begging, borrowing lol ive managed to build what you see in the pics for £20 so far lol.
Its basically a 1m square block. If for whatever reason i cant get a benito oven, then the prebuilt 90x90 ones would do. It can hold 500kg so far tested quite easily (me and four fat mates jumping on it to test!)
I built the block frame, used L-bar for the arch, and cement render for outside. Rather than building a fancy wood frame. And I used a bit rebar and infilled the entire thing with brick rubble. (As front is just for show not bothered about having inside for wood storage)
Before you view pics ill answer a couple of issues that will come up lol.
The hedge is near it, yes but chimney is at front and insulation on oven should prevent any fires lol.
Im not a decent brick layer as you can see but ill give anything a go
The front arch is just for display for log storage (just for show), in hindsight i wish id built it a little bigger but hey cant complain for price
The whole area which the base sits is a 1970's 12inch thick concrete plinth. The whole thing will be hidden with decking come next spring and a new wall at the front to hide the knackered bricks. (Only the front bricks are frost damaged, double wall!)
Now the pics!

Materials wise, I got the blocks off a neighbour for fixing his pc, the cement and sand was £20 off a mate for all work. Rubble for concrete/infill was out of the garden. Brick arch old bricks from work, and the cement mixer was borrowed off another neighbour. All wood and misc items were already in shed.
All thats left is wirebrush the plaster a bit, then paint bright white (leaving bricks at front exposed) then tile the top with some mosaic tiles i have spare.
Then buy the actual oven!
