Hi All - just re-registered on the site, and liking the new forum so far. Have done some reading over last Christmas on the 'physics' behind ovens, and managed to source a lagged metal chimney which I hope to use. In other news - knocked down an internal wall in my house, so now have plenty of bricks to use Dave

I have a worrying story to tell about removing internal walls. I knew this prolific poet he was crazy as they come. I went to his place which was on the ground floor of a four story block of council flats.
I went in and he greeted me he was covered in paint and goo - we walked past his bathroom and it looked like a paint factory explosion, multiple colours splashed every which way.
He gave me a seat in the living room and I thought it was a little strange having bare brick walls in a modern building.
Me not being a builder I didn't realise what the wire bits hanging out of the walls were - then he showed me his rockery he had built in the corner of the room with bricks and I had a sudden realisation.
He had removed the inner skin of bricks in his open plan main room of his flat! Yes - the outside walls.
I didn't stick around long - I still wonder if the block collapsed...

Hello Dave ....and welcome to the new forum.
There are also a few other members who are going to use reclaimed bricks in their build.

I can't recommend highly enough "your brick oven" by russel jeavons if you are going for a brick oven. I have bought every oven book I can find on this subject and this is the only one worth reading for building a brick oven , brilliant laid back no nonsense approach to building ISBN-10: 190494325X ISBN-13: 978-1904943259
