Hi everyone,
I've been baking sourdough for a few years and recently started selling from an honesty box outside the house every Saturday. We moved here from Cardiff about 18 months ago and I've now started seriously thinking about converting the old ty bach (outside toilet) at the bottom of the garden into a wood-fired oven. I've bought and read The Bread Builders and Building a wood-fired oven (Tom Jaine), and am starting to get a picture of what it might look like and how much work is involved!
First question: Alan Scott plans were available from Ovencrafters but that seems to have gone bust. Does anyone know if they're still for sale? The book is good but a bit vague for me on dimensions, build stages, etc.
Diolch, Graham.

Sorry, can't help you on the Alan Scott plans - hopefully someone here will soon, but I like the sound of your future baking plan. Good luck with it and show us a picture of your loaves!

Nice looking bread Graham! Like the ears. Hydration 75% - 80% at a guess? Good luck with the sales - and your bread oven project. I presume you've seen this page?Lance

Thanks Lance - yep, saw the thread on The Fresh Loaf. It's not clear from the guy's post but I think he's talking about photocopying what's in the Alan Scott book, which I already have. I think Ovencrafters used to sell a wider range of oven plans which would be useful because my oven dimensions aren't the same as those in the book, and I'd like a bit more detail than the book goes into!
And you've got a good eye, that loaf is at 82% hydration :-) The ears don't always look as good as that!
I'll start a build thread soon, just working up some plans...

Looking forward to it. I'm sure your bread oven will have the bonus of also making great pizza!
