Hi I'm new on here I have my pizza oven built and ready for insulation but I'm a bit scared as I have only used lime and cement not fire cement to lay my firebricks with and was wondering if I would benefit from having a vermiculite render on before I put on insulation blanket and also render after please help thanks I have had drying fires and it all seems to be ok ? I plan to have around 50mm vermiculite 25 mm ceramic fire blanket and a render thanks

Fire cement is an expensive waste of money as your WFO will never reach the temperatures that fire cement is designed for, lime/clay/cement/sand mix is fine for our applications, and easier to work with. The normal routine is to use blanket directly on top of the dome, then a vermicrete mix on top of that. The blanket layer is usually secured by a chicken wire cage which gives the vermicrete something to grab. Let the vermicrete layer dry out well before the final render coat and you'll be fine.
