Flew too close to the Sun Icarus

I guess i'm not the first and I doubt i'll be the last....

First firing went very well, temperature all under control, the second firing today went a bit Pete Tong though. Too hot to soon, I was all going so well until without thinking I chucked the old Arch Form Work onto the fire. MDF and strips of wooden baton, went up like a rocket. Alas thats when the cracks appeared. From behind the chimney steam erupted, and most worryingly cracks along the mortar where the arch joins the uprights to form the chimney. Have a look at the photos below, basically my question is am I panicking needlessly and should just crack on (got to get the jokes in somewhere) or is it a chimney rebuild job?

Possible solution, cement in a couple of extra bricks that I've got left over to hopefully strengthen up that area???

Think this will help or just papering over the cracks?

Boom tish ! Most WFO's have cracks, wear them with pride; although that's a pretty good way of covering them up.
