Hi Pizza Peeps ! Just got my base built and brick oven installed , not quite finished certain elements yet but its coming along nicely. Just a bit paranoid about leaving it open to the elements although its had 4 coats of flexible waterproof masonry paint on it , still nervous that the rain will ruin it. Looking at building wood canopy , any advice on doing this or should i even bother ? The flue it has now is single wall , i know i will need to upgrade to double wall and have a roof flash but that's about it. Any opinions appreciated.

Hello, I am going about this a different route, Living in Scotland I have built my canopy first and now in the process of building the foundations to the wood burning oven. The Canopy idea was to enable all year round use and more use of the garden space. I'll post a picture of the build so far, Upto now its about £300 in material and lots of time. Rob

I live in a smokeless zone and although the council have told me that they have no problem with the oven, I have always wondered what the addition of a canopy would have. Apparently if the flu goes through a roof, it then fails foul of the clean air act. Does that affect you at all with this?

I will be taking the a chimney / Flu up through the roof section, it simply covers my oven and built in BBQ and allows the use of work surfaces, as all sides are open it does not affect any clean air getting to the oven/bbq. Burning dry wood to heat the oven and in my case gas bbq won't affect any council legislation (I would think) as anyone can have a BBQ or fire as long as they don't burn toxic waste or plastics. Think of how many times you will use the oven as well, its not daily! Nice oven btw. Rob

I live in a 20 year old development near Harrogate , the councils are sticklers so ill take your advice and call them . Cheers Rich

Rob Ok guys it’s been some time ! Area for the pizza oven was finished about 2 years ago and it was decision time to what build I was going to do. Decided on buying the Viticas pizza and bread oven base and build a stone cladded exterior to the oven. I am pleased to say build is going well and I am nearly there. Pics to follow
