Hi Guys - just joined this great forum and im hooked. My name is Mark and somehow a few weeks back I got the idea of building a pizza oven in my head and it just won't shift. I'm trying to do it on a budget (who isn't) but it will be occasional use rather than regular garden Centre piece type. Materials I have are 96 insulated firebricks (thought they were denser fire bricks when I got them but hoping to make use of them for under hearth or over first dome) 15 thermaline blocks (easy to get more) Sand/cement etc Rock wool (RWA45) White coloured K rend for the final covering Chicken wire 80 red Pavers Selection of old bricks
Does anyone have a suggestion as to a design that can best utilize most of these materials. I have a basic overall idea but I'm struggling to piece it together as a single complete build. Any ideas comments welcome Look forward to hearing from the pros /experts by experience

Forgot to clarify, other than the insulated firebricks 🙈 The materials list is what I've pulled together and recycled from jobs I've been on etc rather than specifically bought

It started like this for me then I bought proper reclaimed fire bricks and did a proper job. Maybe cost me 400 pounds. Good luck

It seems you may be wanting to build 'from stores' and minimise purchases. Nothing wrong with that, it's a route followed by many including myself and so I'd suggest dipping into any of the builds in the two main 'disciplines' of Pompeii and Barrel Vault you'll find in the archives and follow a build that best mirrors your ambitions. You will probably come to the conclusion you'll need ceramic blanket to insulate the dome, maybe lime putty mortar for general brickwork (supposedly more forgiving than OPC mortar), potter's clay for sticking bricks together for the dome and certainly some form of flue pipe. Once you're alert to that list you may 'find' some of it and buy little. Other Members on here may have surpluses and give or sell to you - it may be worth giving a rough location to encourage contact. There's plenty of proper ovens out there that cost nothing but the ingenuity and enthusiasm of the owner. Keep us posted. Chas.
