Hi everyone So I have my slab built. I am planning on using kiln bricks for the cooking base and dome. Will I have to insulate between the cooking base and the slab? Attachments:

I think it is advisable to do so.

Yes, otherwise you base will just become a big heat sink and draw heat from the cooking floor. I used vermiculite board, it's more expensive than vermicrete but is very efficient and gives a flat surface to lay your cooking floor on.
