just registered so I thought I'd say hi.
I'm investigating the possibility of building a community pizza oven on our allotments and was hoping to find people who've done the same.

In France there have been communal ovens for centuries. Go for it!

Hi Al and welcome.
I've not come across anyone on the forum who's built a communal oven, but don't see an issue. A 42" dia pompeii (igloo) design will handle 15-20 people comfortably, and more, provided they are happy eating informally.
Good luck

Hello Al......welcome to the forum. I was fortunate enough to be invited to work the oven in Paulthebread's post for a day. ....What an experience!!! Depending on what type of oven you want,,,we can perhaps help in the sourcing of materials. General bricks and mortar etc.....we have a discount from Jewsons which may cut down on costs... woodovenukforum.forumup.co.uk/viewforum.php?f=77&mforum=woodovenukforum Fire-bricks for the hearth and arch are discounted to us from Liam.... http://www.kilnlinings.co.uk./ If you are thinking of a Clay oven, then clay ....if not available can be bought very cheaply......this is not a sales pitch, just a few idea's to get your community project off the ground. ....if in doubt......keep asking. Terry

welcome abroad.
If the oven is a community build? and to be left in the allotment are you looking to have it made cheap and or as natural as possible? or would a full brick oven be on the cards?
