Hi and welcome to the forum.
One thing you need to think about is isolating the oven from the dampness in the soil. I built mine into a small terrace and didn't use any damp proofing and I think the oven is affected by the dampness, particularly in spring., when the oven seems a bit sluggish.

Hello Rugrat.........welcome aboard.
.....just to re-iterate what Tony B said. Try to keep your oven totally separate from your ground. Keeping the damp out, and insulating the oven will make for a perfect working oven.
Please keep posting on your progress......and if in doubt....ask!!!

Thanks for the advice guys, hope rain will ease up today so I can crack on . I have the managed to pick up lots of real granite stone blocks so will have to get some advice on forming an arch with them as they are quiet heavy .......but as they say an "arch is held up by gravity!"............the arch is for the front not inside oven

I haven't got round to joining an online site so I compress mine using powerpoint or microsoft picture manager. Rightcick open with microsoft picture manager - picture - compress picture - I then tick "documents" and ok close & save....WARNING this will overwrite your picture with the compressed one.... so before you start you could copy it and rename it as something else.
