Hi I am a noobie living in Brighton. Two years ago we moved into a house and had to refurbish it. It had a long York stone fire place in the house, the kind with a coal, wood storage and fire place. We have knocked it down, but I have wanted to make a wood oven for along time now, and was wondering if i could use the old York stones to build it with.
As an old fire place it shouldn't crack, and I pland to use fire sand to hold it together, but not sure if it will retain the heat and be any good as an oven. Any one on here tried using York stone? or have any thoughts or advise as how i should go about this?
Any help is greatly appreciated. happyhilton

Hi, sorry can't help with your question but maybe post some photos of the stone and it might help members to see what you are looking to work with.
It's not clear from your post whether you are looking to build it outside or inside where the original fire was. Or maybe that is just me reading it wrong.
