Hi Folks
Just joined up. After many months of reading up, watching YouTube, and a brief but enjoyable fling with a Tesco pizza oven (we've all got to start somewhere and actually it was quite good!), I've taken the plunge and started my pizza oven build. I'll start a separate build thread rather than go into any detail here, but it's a Milano 750 modular 'kit' from Pizza Oven Supplies in Stoke. I'll be posting as it progresses, but don't expect a quick build as I'm in no rush and it'll be done as and when I have time.
I always have several projects on the go, and tend to flit between them dependent upon the time I have spare and the weather etc. In addition I'm two years into a refurb on our current house and we have a decent sized garden to take care of. Just to add to the pressure I work sixty miles from home and leave the house at 6:30am and get back between 8 and 10pm. Not moaning though. The job pays for the projects, even if it makes it difficult to find the time! Got a wife and two teenage kids just for good measure too!
I'm reasonably competent with most practical stuff, and have done a small amount of block and brick-laying in the past. Slow and not very good at it, but good enough, and will give anything a go. I often think inexperienced DIY folk tend to do a good job precisely because our lack of experience means we don't know what corners can be cut, as the experts do, and we're over-cautious about not
making mistakes.
No particular aspect of the build that concerns me but will be very grateful for any pointers along the way, and please feel free to point out anything I might have missed. I'll also be looking for lots of help and advice on dough recipes, and other foods I can try out in the oven.
Anyway, enough for now. Will start a new thread soon with more detail about the kit, what stage I'm at now and the build.
