Welcome to the world of pizza ovens. I must say, that at this stage, that is one good looking development you have going on there. Will watch with interest your build. DT This is my dream, but wifee says No....

Right guys , all the materials are coming tomorrow to start the oven and I’m already unsure about the insulation under the bricks ! I’ve ordered 2 ceramic boards 1000x 500 mm boards (50mm) . I know it goes under the dome but does it go under the vent and landing? It’s going to be a 36” Pompeii with a higher 18” vault.

If you've got it, then use it; don't bother cutting it to fit the dome just use it.

So as I thought the two 1000 x 500 x 50 mm Cali board is not enough to cover my template I cut for the oven and vent !! My template includes the cooking floor and half brick dome . Is there anything else I can use or do I buy more? I had planned to cut the floor to fit inside the dome and I wanted to build of the board with dome walls. My stand is concrete lintels with 50 mm council issue paving slabs

It's the oven you really need to insulate so concentrate on that, the entry arch is just a bonus if you can manage it but it's not as essential as covering the whole of the dome footprint. Depending on what you decide then small pieces of vermiculite board can be found on eBay or if you fancy a trip to Devon I've a small pile of off-cuts you can have.

Started building the roof / shelter today . My plan was to get this up first then start the oven, the weather is good here at the moment but in Pembrokeshire it can easily become wet and windy and last for weeks!!! I’m going to put a galvanised roof on then fit a twin wall pipe through it later ? That’s the plan ! If I follow building regs for a wood burner that should be ok shouldn’t it??

As your shelter is wood framed I'm not sure that building regs apply.

Is it really necessary to set the floor in sand & fire clay mix ? I have laid it out and it’s pretty flat and level now?
