Hi, I'm starting from scratch having just taken delivery of the Veneto Superior kit from Kiln Linings (who btw have been super efficient and helpful). I am intending to lay a reinforced concrete foundation (around 1.6m sq) with hollow block walls and a suspended base of reinforced concrete lintels with paving slabs on top. Onto the base I will then add insulating boards (foil wrapped), fire bricks, then oven. My questions are as follows:-
1. I was planning to use 1.5m length lintels to support paving slabs on which to place insulation boards; any suggestions on the number, type, dimensions and spacing of lintels? I realise this is probably more expensive than a suspended concrete base with rebar grid but I'm hoping to keep the build within my limited skill level and time constraints.
2. Should the supporting block walls have cavities infilled with concrete and rebars, or is this over-engineering? If they are infilled do they need mortar in between blocks or could they be laid dry?
Any answers, comments and cautions will be beyond welcome.

Presume you mean hollow blocks, they're generally stacked dry with concrete & rebar in the corners/ends. Some people infill every other hollow, some fill them all in. I had a funny shape so needed to use a couple of cut breeze blocks and these were cemented.

Any answers, comments and cautions will be beyond welcome. use 100x65mm prestressed concrete lintel 1500mm calculate your spacing to the paving slab that you are using . stagger the paving stone joints when laying. Then lay on a bed sand and cement mix. Hope this helps. Jagnut
