Hello, I have recently bought my first wood-fired oven. I had it made and delivered from a company elsewhere, though I have built the concrete base for it myself. It's been a very enjoyable project and now I'm looking forward to getting the first few fires lit to cure the oven and finally cooking some food.
However, I'm currently stuck with which chimney to buy for it. It came with a small flue installed (maybe 150mm tall) so I need to extend that and add a cowl on top. The problem is the installed flue measures 5.5" external diameter. All the chimneys I have seen for purchase come in whole inch sizes ie 4", 5", 6" etc.
My question then is, which size should I buy and how on earth would I install it if the diameters of both pieces are different?!
Any help greatly appreciated.

That would depend on your oven design? Very often a 6’’ chimney will sit over a 5.5’’ opening but without knowing What it looks like i cant say anymore.

Hi As fox said with out seeing it its hard to advise much, One option though, if you can't change the flue or find any flues that fit, maybe try and get a reducer fabricated. Try these www.fluesupplies.com if your totally stuck, speak to there technical guys, very helpful and friendly, they may be able to get something made if they can't figure anything else out I'm sure someone else with more knowledge will be along soon with the answer 👍

A picture paints ...
However, most twin wall flue systems come with a register* plate which is a flanged ring that connects (usually by 1/8 twist) a length of flue to whatever the register plate is screwed to, in this case your WFO. A 6" register plate will fit over your 5.5" stub which you can either reduce or just leave in place.
eBay is a good source of single lengths of twin-wall, as will be your local stove fitter.
*aka Anchor plate, console plate
