Calaf you have done yourself proud!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lovely work that you have done there and a future reference for alll. Hi I just joined today . Love the site sad that I havent found it much sooner . I am doing it the other way around starting with my BBq first and then my Pizza oven . BBq will also be a dome type but on a bigger scale promise to post photos etc . But all this talk about a PIZZA oven I was at my neighbor for years to also do one as he already has a BBQ and 2 arches in place on either side for a Pizza barrel type vault oven. So he will have his before mine . We in the proses of construction on that and my question to you please or others: We have vermiculite down and also have storage heater bricks/tiles down . We want to now do Quarry tiles like you have . How do you find them being so thin are they still in tack ? Please all advise will be much appreciated . Sorry not trying to hijack your lovely build!Thank you

A bit expensive for a door but it does look professional. how would you make it cheaper? Yes, I shouldn't have given the storage heater casings to the Pikeys. The steel would have been ideal and halved the cost of the door. The double wind of Fire-rop is extravagant too, and the paint more cosmetic than protective.

Please all advise will be much appreciated . Sorry not trying to hijack your lovely build!Thank you Hi there! Welcome to the forum. I hope you will post some pics of your two builds. Sounds great! Feel free to ask anything here. We're a friendly bunch. Anyone is welcome to post comments on my thread, even critical ones. The Quarry Tiles are doing fine. I wanted to cover the storage heater bricks as they didn't seem to me to be the sort of thing I wanted to cook food on. They have a gritty surface compared to smooth clay tiles. They are still firmly stuck and none have exploded. They have discoloured slightly where I have been cooking sticky chicken legs on them but it just adds character I think. I've also read of people using them as baking stones in gas and electric ovens.

Mark, congratulations on an excellent build. It has been mentioned on Forno Bravo so expect some extra visits from accross the pond. Not sure why you would post a build like that here when this forum is not taken very seriously in the refractory community. Also I hope your work and excellent breads don't fuel the resentment and jealousy of the top dog there, if it hasn't already. Watch your back!! Best regards. NJO EDIT...ADMIN Not sure why you would post a build like that here when this forum is not taken very seriously in the refractory community.I have every respect for Mark and his oven build. Even though I have differing opinions on some posts, I still respect his honest comments...... Here are some sites you may find serious enough to post in... www.fornobravo.com/forum/ www.pizzamaking.com/forum/index.php www.traditionaloven.com/ Your comment is an insult to this forum. So please go elsewhere. Admin

Posts like ^^ make me glad I'm just a hobbiest at this with no element of wood fired oven snobbery. This forum is superior, IMO - if for no other reason than we don't look down our noses at other forums.

Not sure why you would post a build like that here when this forum is not taken very seriously in the refractory community. NJO, I am here because Terry is a gentleman and everyoine here is warm and friendly and always respond with encouraging advice. Like tapir, I am a hobbyist and prefer to be in the company of likeminded relaxed folk. Life is too short to harbour resentments and such like. So I would rather stay out of the politics, I could do without the stress right now. Pace t'imploro.

I have 20sqm of screed made out with steel meshing and will be poring concrete soon plus stenceling concrete with die colour. This will act as a foundation for bbq and pizza oven . And some place to sit . But i will start a new section for all posts as seperate project

For £5 I have just acquired a quantity of Redland roofing tiles including shorts, one-and-a-halfs and ridges. Enough to complete the roof of the oven when mother nature eases up the deluge.
Will post a final completed photo when done.

;D ;D ;D I think I earned my beer! only just seen this, cracking shot image and pizza wise, you and Marcus really put us mortals to shame. loved the chimney, the fact they are irregular hand made bricks makes it that much more of an achievement. the door looks awesome as well, wouldn't want to be on the wrong end of the "probe", I feel for those fried turkeys I really do ;-)

Mark your build is amazing well done. You should be very proud of you build. brovo, you da man. It is amazing that people feel that there is a pecking order in everything rather than understanding that people can get together on a forum and help each other out. What is great about this place is that people here don't pass judgment. I can make the most simple builds are never derided or beaten down. Anyway my rant is over. Do you have any more pics of your cooking? What an amazing build. Good write up and great info. It is great to have you here. An honor and a pleasure.

That door rocks, I want one! I still have my storage heater casing, so will have a go. Your pizza looks fab in that photo. I agree with it being a lovely laid back place, can't be doing with any silly nonsense, it's all about the food....and the beer...and the wine.... And the friendly banter Cheers Marcus
