Hi . I posted on this forum before this introduction so suppose i did it the other way around. How rude if me !
But when I saw the lovely Work that Calaf did on his oven I got so exited and had to respond and did a sort of informal introduction also .
I am building a BBQ at the present moment and then a Pizza oven. I love cooking outside and do a lot of it. all year round . But never managed to make a designated area for all this so this is the year . told the MRS that everything else has to be put on hold till iam finished ;D
My neighbour build his BBQ area years ago with the plan to incorporate a pizza oven . SO ive been at him for years now to do the pizza oven and the last 2 weekends has seen fast development. Well he also wanted to do it but just never got to doing it you know what its like with these little projects . Becuase there was a barrel arch on either side of the bbq all three mirroring each other it was easier to get started . He done this in hindside years ago .And had used either side as lovely arched counters etc. So vermiculate just had to be laid and then storage heater bricks on top of that . Al thats left now is to close the back of the fualt. The front closed dome arch was done in 20/30 min the other morning. SO it hasnt been to labour intensive because of all the work done years ago . As this isnt my build i will ask him if i can take one or to snaps.....
My BBQ plan is to do a dome type BBQ so that when i build the pizza oven that they will almost have the same shape with a preperations counter between them . I managed to selvaged some old reclame redbrick for the build of the bbq and might use same for pizza oven but use fire brick or quarry tiles for the hearth . These bricks are more than a 140 years old so made properly . My screed for the foundation of all is made and steel put down just now need to pour . See attached.
