Paulthebread has very kindly posted this link to me..... sourdough.com/webcam ....of a live webcam, which is installed inside a bakery in Australia. For those who are not familiar with a live webcam, it is a camera which is installed in a certain place and ALWAYS stays live, so can follow the actual process of sourdough bakin and makin ......live as it happens and check the actual temperature of the oven (they use thermocouples) at any given time. The clock on our forum is wrong (help Turkey)....but this live web cam is in Australia so you must allow GMT + 10 Hrs......it is now 2.40 pm here so in Aussie it's 12.40 am (I think).....so nothing is happening...... After a quick look at the link, I see there is lots of info about following the live webcam......If any members see any important titbits that can be shared......please post them. Terry

Closed on Mondays, so nothing to see until tomorrow. Shame about the timezone most of the interesting stuff will happen between 2am and 6am, so one for the insomniacs and early risers... ;-)

The clock on our forum is wrong (help Turkey)... hi Terry, I have checked and as the forum is global the daylight saving is at a user level. if you go into your profile, then modify at the bottom you have the option to say your timezone (which you selected at registration) is currently under DST. Hit this to yet and save and the global time shown on the forum will be correct. We football need to turn this off when BST ends. Should I make a main post to explain this?

As you're still in the Admin mode......can you do this?.....I've tried on many occasions but I always fall by the wayside......if you can't, let me know and I'll follow your procedure.

As always I'm ......"confused".....I have set my time time zone to GMT +/- 0....and set the DST to yes. I don't know if this is right or how it affects the time other members see on the forum. I'll click the "post reply"....and see what the time shows for me.

OK......the time posted was real time......is this fixed just for me or do all members need to do this?
Thank you for that, as a post in this thread may be very relevant to checking our posts against the webcam activities.

afraid so, I think the forums are set for world wide access.
There is the master time of the forum in the Admin Panel and then when you sign up you select your local time, this I suppose is how you see the times, and DST applies from different periods of the year per country (or possibly not at all) so have to be set by the user.
Its a shame you cant just say I am in X country and have it automatically done.
tbh altering the time in the admin console does not seem to affect it, as the time in my profile overrides everything, so not sure what that is for now.
So I know how to see the correct time, but am possibly more confused than before lol.

Hi Terry The forum time is accurate as far as I'm concerned, thanks. The time ATM is 8pm - the time on the webcam is 5am EST (Aust. Eastern Standard Time) - so I would expect some activity before very long, so we should see something happening during our evenings. Just what I need, another excuse to fritter away my time! Cheers, Paul

Nope! Wrong again! Here's what Graham (head baker?) has to say:
"Sunday morning (midnight to 5am) is the only time we do traditional 'baker's hours'. All the other bakes are day shifts. Monday is our day off, so no baking (unless we are teaching a class).
Which means we can watch live baking between 3pm and 8pm on Saturdays - but their day shifts (assuming an 8 o'clock start) will begin at 11pm over here.

Just caught a couple of glimpses of activity in the bakery! First one at 11.09pm, or 8.09am in Oz.
There's be no oven work today, apparently Tuesdays are just for dough making and shaping.
Cheers, Paul

Time to tear myself away, methinks! I watched Cynthia and her student load up the fire with virtually all the wood from the store under the oven - finishing with a small log about 6" thick and 2 and a half feet long. Not sure if she lit it or not - there was a sheet of newspaper involved at one stage. Then a large batch of dough appeared on the table, and the two women started weighing and shaping. So far, there are 20 plus balls of dough on the table - and the batch of dough doesn't seem to have diminished one iota! 8 minutes past one here - 8 past 10 in Tasmania. I'd love to stay another half hour or so...
