Right, after a lot of chin scratching and tooth sucking I have taken the plunge and bought a ready built pizza oven for a shared property in France. I would rather have been building one but the logistical/cost implications were doing my head in (I intend to construct a brick built at home next year) I had already built the stand last year in rendered block work on a concrete terrace so hopefully the friendly farmer next door will lift the new oven on for us with his telescopic forklift thing ( the oven weighs 500kg!) Will post some pictures later in July when we have the first firing (small fire of course)

Yo - we will have to start a club for peeps in France with WFOs!
It is coming up for our big village fete on the 14 June. It is the Festival of Bread and attracts over 100,000 people over three days.
It is sponsored by the local bakery and the bakery is open all day and night over the festival. They are now cooking with electricity but there is a big WFO on the event field, which cooks pizza and bread plus there is a replica working flour mill.
There is live music and nightly concerts with fireworks and strange things like motorcycles riding hi-wires and the other year a man on horseback covered in fireworks- a sort of moving firework display.
Good thing it is all free - so if you are in France check out Mensignac near perigueux.

Forgot to say last year the young lads staying with me were happily amazed by topless dancers in the last free concert. So you get plenty of baps at the Festival of Bread.

Hello Hezza.....welcome to the forum.
I believe we have quite a few members who either live or semi-live in France. Please keep us informed how you get on.
Bob....sounds like a great festival (I used to work markets close to that region...I was based in Vendee)

That's what I love about the French, who else could have a three day festival about bread. Unfortunately I won't be in France till late July but there are plenty more food related festivals I will be visiting. Henry
