1st attempt at a Stromboli , It doesn't look much but it was very good , Oh and I did it in the rain ;D

Just my normal pizza dough rolled out to make a square , I just filled it with cheese , ham , peppers , pepperoni , salami , then rolled it as tight as pos , egg wash the edges . This was the 1st one and I think the oven was a bit to hot really , the next few looked a lot better but I didn't get pics . To me here the same as a calzone , but I was watching man v food and they where on there and looked good so I had to have a crack at em .

so thats what they are called, the local (ish) itallian bakery sells these twists but where not named. They very tasty and I am sure very bad for you, plenty of olive oil in theirs but ohh so good.

Apparently the difference between a calzone and a stromboli is this:- a calzone has the sauce inside the folded dough, and a stromboli has the sauce poured over the folded pizza. I love both versions;-)

Our understanding between the difference Calzone and Stromboli is Calzone is a round base filled and folded while a Stromboli is rectangular and rolled similar to a swizz roll. We have found that putting sauce on the base causes it to become soggy, so we always put a layer of cheese first and filling as per personal taste. I use a home made spag bog sauce and find it works really well ! As long as it tastes good, who cares what it looks like !
