Hi everybody
I'm Richard and live near Ludlow/Knighton. I love cooking and especially cooking outside so the earth oven makes a lot of sense and looks like fun.
I want to use the flue to feed a whisky barrel smoker as well so if anyone can point me in the right direction I would be most grateful.
Best books to read? Where can I source raw material -especially clay? All things you have all been through I suspect. I keep a few pigs and so have a ready supply of quality pork begging for the wood smoke treatment!
Looking forward to this.

Welcome aboard some good questions already, with regards to the flue ideally your oven will not be putting out much smoke but it will release alot of hot gas so not sure if it would be suitable for smoking, totally possible as I have no idea on these things, usually the oven hearth is at waist to elbow height to make using it easier, so the flue is usually at head hight which would mean the smoker would have to be high or have some wierd pipework which might affect the draw and thus its udefulness as a flue. This is one for the somking crown I feel. books, well the forum here is a good start and for an earth oven Kiko Denzer has a well regarded book on clay/adobe ovens which might be worth a read. Clay ofen comes from the ground in someones garden, Terry the forum owner found a local turf supplier who had clay there where silling to offload cheap so they might be a good first call if you cannot harvest it from your own soil. Will be very interesting to see how you get on with design choices, we had an old forum on forumup which you can register on (required to view images, but there is no new posting) as we have some old clay builds there, and a couple here also to tempt you design wise. Whatever route you go, we are keen to know and help wherever possible. enjoy the journey
