Have purchased a modular oven from Vitcas and am wondering what to put under the oven floor which comes as a one piece item. Vitcas said it was not necessary to put anything underneath however I'm thinking for insulation and support it would be better seated on a solid surface.
My current plan is to build a support structure using blocks and then top with 600mm paving slabs to place the oven on.
Does anyone see any issue with this approach?

You could cast a slab of vermiculite/cement on top of your slabs, this will provide some insulation underneath the oven.

sounds a good plan, as you are not buying from a refractory place now your options are pretty much vermicrete or breeze blocks as the insulation, the latter being quicker but you have less control of the thickness.
vermiculite required for the vermicrete can be got from jewsons(check our account code for discount) or some Travis Perkins outlets have it.
