I reckon a few people here enjoy Indian cuisine so I thought I would share a couple of my favourite quick eats.
After teaching my wife to cook I left her to it - but occasionaly I have to find food for myself.
I think lazy is good (it encourages invention to save time so we can laze around) my style of cuisine is a mix of Keith Floyd and Johnny Vegas.
Today I want to share two, perhaps little known; sub one minute preparation; tasty starters or mid-day light picnic lunch.
We all know that there are two really tasty useful foods that come in cans (baked beans and tomatoes) - now we can add another staple to be kept in the cupboard Patra.
Patra is often overlooked and not many people know about it.
It is Malanga (a sort of big leak/leaf-like vegetable) and it is rolled up with a gram flour and spice mix.

It is pre-cooked so you can eat it straight from the can - it makes a great picnic and is easy to stuff under your motorcycle seat for a day out. Also makes great sandwiches in crispy bread.
Or you can barbecue it and serve with a sauce. Bloomin' marvelous spicy stuff and very filling. You can get it at most ethnic food stores. Buy a coupla tins as you soon get hooked on the stuff.
My next quick snack or a good starter is Special Chat - it is so easy but so delicious... Get a bag of Gujarati Mix (it's like Bombay mix but spicier) it is pokey old tackle.
Next grab a coupla pots of plain yogurt empty into a dish add a cupped handfull of Gujarati mix and mix. Just mix crudely with a coupla turns you don't need to completely mix.
Next pour some Tamarind sauce over the top - a good slug or 4 tablespoons.
Easy peasy - now eat it! Best eaten straight away or could lose some crispiness of the Gujarati Mix.
This may sound a starnge mix but it is scrumptious and a great favourite amongst many people.
If you wanna be realy posh you can also mix in bits of broken vegetable samosas.
I hope you enjoy these sub minute tasty snacks/starters.
I have another top tip or two but I'll save them for another day.
