Heres some pix of a barrel oven which is a community oven in a very rural part of Brittany. (Treal) Its situated on the edge of my mates garden (facing out to the side road ie no access from the garden!). Its used once or twice a year by the look of things which could be due to the fact that the hamlet consists mostly of ex pats and 70% of them holiday homes. This is the oven which planted the seed of an idea for me when I saw it a couple of years ago. ;D outside the doorway roof detail.....see the metal hoops?

Great pics. Interesting oven but it doesn't look like it's been used in ages.

Great looking oven. Unusual vault design, but there's no reason why the oven won't work......however old it is.

n.b I have been contacted privately on quite a few occasions from people who have found an old bread oven and ask why it won't draw.....is the chimney blocked?....It could be the case but more likely is the oven is really damp and would need a set of curing fires to dry the oven before it can again function.
