Firstly hello! And secondly apologies if there are already similar threads. I had a look but didn't find any, so...
I'm thinking of installing a wfo, but I don't want to build it from scratch and I can't afford mega bucks. I have had a little google session and unearthed a few companies offering pre-cast dome kits, either basic or 'delux' that are in the £450-650 price range.
I realise that I would need to construct the base, but is there a forum consensus on which companies kits offer the best value, and are proven performers?
You advice and experience would be really appreciated!!

Hi expo,
Welcome to the world of wfo choices!!
Have a look at the ongoing builds on the forum, you'll see how different people cope with different kits and builds, and then you can make an informed decision based on what you've read coupled with how hands-on you are.
I'm very close to finishing a modular KilnLinings Veneto build in my garden, which I've really enjoyed putting together.
Look around, ask questions (this forum is excellent and has very helpful members) and most of all, enjoy the experience!
I hope it goes well, looking forward to seeing pictures.
Steve

I bought the Woodfired Gourmet dome from ebay. Great kit and great service. I would have no problem recommending them.

We also bought the wood fired gourmet kit and we're very pleased. Delivered very quickly and it appears to be good quality. Only negative to tell you is that the pieces were extremely heavy to manovere onto the base. This proved quite a challenge as we built the base high enough so the oven will be eye level.

It's good to know there are still people out there with money to blow on a WFO.
Build your own and spend the money saved on food and drink!

We looked at the costings, and with the cost of materials (&tools) we would need to buy, the kit wasn't more expensive! The cost of the base is the same whether you buy a kit or make your own.

Hello Expo.......welcome to the forum. I don't know any of the sellers on e-bay so I can't comment on their products. No doubt there are good reputable suppliers on there, but we have had a few horror stories from people who have bought from e-bay. Dingley Dell have top class ovens and Kilnlinings also do a range of ready made and kit form ovens. The only Company I know(and can endorse) that sells Modular ovens in your price range is Garden Gift Shop. They have a good range of Wood-fired ovens and have good customer feed back on their website. Scott, the owner of www.gardengiftshop.co.uk/ is telephone friendly and gives customer aftercare. He was a member of the old forum and gave a few members free products for trialing (Oak planks for slow roasts and tripods for "beer can chicken"...I think)....He's worth a telephone call. Terry
