Success at last .. My neighbour Don has a 1000 pound pizza oven .. Truly superb results ..so I set to to improve my humble Castmaster ..by lining with B&Q quarry tiles (300 mm) and filling the top section with lava rocks (for gas BBQ) last night I had 470 degree C oven temp in 45 mins using dry logs ..cooking on a quarry tile cut to an octagonal shape as a pizza stone the results were totally authentic !

cracking stuff and welcome to the forum, we have a few happy castmaster owners here and they too have tinkered to improve the pizza cooking experience, I am not sure anyone has used lava rocks yet so would be great to see some pics

Hello Dr H......welcome to the forum. We would love to see any pics or recipes that you may have. One of the people Turkey was talking about is "Paulthebread"....he has had some great results from using a Castmaster and has posted many of the results on his blog. nobreadisanisland.blogspot.co.uk/2011/04/amusing-clay-oven.html .....can't find the actual post on his Castmaster, but this link will lead you into the blog.
