I spoke to my neighbour a farmer only yesterday and asked him to get his mate to get me some chestnut logs in the next month or so as I hadn't got a good supply of free trees in the last year.
I went for a long walk in a a forest a few miles away as Big Dave wanted to show me some cars he had found long abandoned.
So me the Mrs and Big Dave and the dog went for a long walk.
The first two cars were Citroen Tractions there was only the rusting body shells left - there were also FOUR very very rusty falling apart wood ranges.
Next car was a bit modern a Renault 4 - there was also a 40's moped snapped in half and the remains of a quaint bicycle.
Finally got home - only to realise after an hour that in the log store area was neatly stacked 8 square metres of chestnut logs.
I guess we ordered early for the winter and the woodman wasn't busy and wanted an earner.
I felt so embarassed we hadn't helped him unload or even paid him.
Must mean my credit is good... Last year Chestnut cost 35 Euros a square metre - I'll let you know if the price has gone up this year.

Luckily Dordogneshire is still 45% wooded. They hang onto their woods and don't wan't to sell locally. We have hundreds of hectares of woods around us but none for sale.
Must have been having too much of the red - went shopping today and forgot to get the woodmans money - duh.
Weather went English today dropped from 32C yesterday to 18C today and we had some pretend rain that didn't even wet the ground.
