This is rather nice at this time of year using fresh or dried lavender (Lavendula) flowers. Now is the time to prune them after all.............................. I air dried the flowering heads in my garage for 5 days after which it is easier to strip the flower heads from the stalks. The scent is quite powerful at this stage but dont let that put you off. I collected about 2/3rds of a tea cup for 1 loaf and added it straight into the flour before the yeast etc. came out rather well, but what's it taste like? Rather nice actually...........not overpowering, but rather "pretty" on the palette, would go well with cheese and a nice chilled chablis! ..................nom nom

...Great looking loaf.......Was is really not overpowering in taste? I tried some lavender bread from a farmers market in Usk and....I don't know how much lavender she put in, but is was perhaps a bucket-full to much....

@ fanny.......no it was a bit strong when stripping the flowers off the stalks and was a bit worried but the process calms it down a lot ..... so rather mild when baked :-)
