I was about to order 300-odd bricks (about 200 for the dome and 60 for the floor)...
Then played with the dome spreadsheet on FB - and it suggests I only need 133 HALF BRICKS for my dome, or about 70 full bricks for the dome. (9x4.5x3" bricks - or 230x114x80mm)
So - how many bricks did people use?

I ordered 200 for my 36" but I've got about 20 left over & I have a bit of a firebrick chimney on mine.

I used 200 for a 42" internal plus floor plus 3 course chimney, 2 left over and maybe 1-2 unusable.

Thanks - are those 200 whole bricks, or 200 half bricks?
Thinking of ordering 200 odd bricks in total now...

Spinal
Long overdue is a calculation sheet on the forum to estimate "how many bricks".....of course lots of different things must be calculated to give a fair estimate.....Pompeii or Vault. What size. Hearth laid inside or outside dome. Hearth bricks laid flat or on edge. Fire-bricks to be also used on entrance hearth and arch etc....until then.....
For my 36" Pompeii I used 130 full size and 5 1" fire-bricks (for the dome arch transition). I used half bricks on the dome. Laid my fire-brick hearth "on flat" (3") and laid it inside the dome. Chimney was s/s vent) Only the internal arch was fire-bricks.......entrance arch and entrance hearth were clay bricks.
Most people quote 200 for a 36" oven.
If you over order they can quickly be sold on e-bay...or here.

I ended up ordering 150 bricks for the dome, and 60 bricks for the hearth... hopefully they're enough!
I was up to 996kg on the order though, so if i did need to add more bricks I would have had to order a substantial amount to justify the 50£ increase in postage.
On that note, I now need to find a fireclay supplier - had to drop the fireclay from kilnlinings to stay under the 1000kg shipping charge. The place I found grog from ships for 25£ a pallet, so may ask if they also have fireclay...

I've got 2 and a half bags of fireclay which I'll let you have in exchange for something or other - the only catch being that they're in East Kent which is probably not too convenient for you!!

Indeed - Killer Instincts Gold on the N64... Legend :-) don't suppose you have the killer instinct cd (killer cuts), anyhow when I was posting that all I had in my mind was the 2nd track, the way you move...... Killer groove... Lol, I digress from the forum but it still holds sweet memories and is a shame Rare was not able to make a 3rd.

Actually - I think I do! I went through a phase where I was collecting all things Nintendo (roughly about the time Sega stopped doing consoles). I have a selection of Koji Kondo albums; and I do remember buying Killer Cuts... so it should be somewhere in the boxes from the game room. For Halloween this year, I'm digging out some old cosoles... I'm thinkin the original NES (with duck hunt of course) and the gamecube (with donkey konga) as party games. I don't want to ever turn on the N64/Killer Instincts though... I had a streak for the last couple of years I played it, where no-one could beat me. I could even beat the arcade version with a single coin. That said, so much time has passed that I know if I ever pick it up, I'll feel like jumping out a window because of my lack of "skills" (yes, I was/am a Nintendo fanboi. Even though I have a (melted) xbox360, a xbox (running xmbc) and a ps3 - I still consider nintendo the godfather of gaming. (Albeit I will say that the kinect is impressive. I'm tempted to replace my xbox360 just because of that...) M.
