very nice looking setup with your outdoor kitchen.
from a video nerds point of view, great stable image (bug bear for home movies) and good audio, so very well done.
not sure the aspect ratio has come across correctly you look slightly stretched, would not mention such picky things but knowing your dedication to photo quality I am sure you are striving for video quality also . No idea how YouTube uploading works but video encoding is something I have done a bit of and still find it interesting (if you want to share your experience there), what did you film with?
sorry for the digression,
the only content comment bar them steaks look something else I'd don't be so honest with the editing, like a staged (ish) photo to convey the beauty of the meal less can be more, great tip on removing the steak if it fires up but once is enough even if you did it more just trim it out so it seems smoother.
love video blogs, being lazy I watch more food than I read, and YouTube is great fir publicity.

Thanks guys Really chuffed with the outdoor kitchen, makes a real difference when it rains. thanks for the feedback matey, yeah i' m working on more food p0rn style for my videos I think, nobody wants to see me yes i'm very new to videoing, editing etc. I used my new slr 650d in hd video mode, with an external mic on a tripod, is a little on the dark side really, but I'm a one man band doing the filming, cooking and photography, so is a bit hectic, any ideas and advice I'd be grateful for. I felt like I was missing a trick by not having videos, even if i'm not a natural in front of the camera, prefer to be behind it!! Cheers Marcus

Hi Marcus,
sounds like a fun challenge this video lark :-)
do you have a mac or a pc and what software are you using atm?
will rack my brains and scout out some good options for doing the vids.
ps checked out that dslr and looks very nice, I have a camcorder but with the lenses you should be able to make some really nice footage. First up should be an intro thingy, some fire and wood smoke going out of focus (to place to show blog name in somehow) and this can be blended into the actual content of each vid. A arty way of showing the video name or recipie overview would be great, something you can recreate each time to give the videos a similar look and feel to make them stand out as yours and a cut above the rest.

ahh ok, I don't have Sony Vegas or a dslr that shoots video but I am sure you probably see the same things I did with my hd camcorder, that is when previewing the video you imported h.264 it can be jerky and hard to edit. the best bet is to transcode to a better editing format, cineform is a good choice for Vegas studio. gopro.com/3d-cineform-studio-software-download/that should do it from what I have seen, and should be fast, the tutorials I have seen have used cineform hdlink but that studio should do it I reckon, YouTube and vimeo have a few vids to explain what I mean better lol. then you should be able to more easily play with editing the video, I would output to h.264 within an mp4 container with whatever audio your camera captures in , probably aac. I do need to get some of my footage off my camera so might set this up myself and have a play, but always willing to try and help with this sort of thing, not that I am a pro but have fiddled with video stuff before, mostly DVD authoring and heavy video compression for small archive files. Not so much on the edit side tho which seems like it could be fun.

thank you for that, looks like it will be ideal, I want to get my vids looking more cinematic, and less home video, think M&S food prawn adverts but outdoor cooking..... cheers Marcus

first thing I would do is a small clip for an end to end test, film something like a football or a chess board, or both the reason these are uniform shapes so you can be sure that when you go through the steps you are keeping the correct aspect ratio and such as this is easily altered with video editing and sometimes not so easy to notice, small clips are also much easier to play with and learn as its quicker to render and such, then when more sure of the steps you want to try then put it to action on the real deal.
I have to work like this as the cpu in my laptop is really slow (a whole new league of slow) and i am a stickler for small details when doing video, in fact perhaps editing is not for me lol
