Hi All Just picked up 8Kg of sausage again from my butcher. He makes it for me as a custom order and also to my variation with his herbs . This should tie me over for the Christmas time for BBQ . bbqmasterclass.net/boerewors-south-african-sausage/Its called Boerewors . Its lovely and harder to find in Ireland than in UK as there are bigger South African communities in UK. Every time you BBq its part of the bbq no matter what is on the menu it just accompanies a BBq and that is like almost a bbq rule If you ever see it in the shops please try it . Yes there are loads of variations and recipes so not all the same with some more superior than other and then its the old story of quality of ingredients.

For anyone near Bristol I'd certainly recommend the boerwors from the Mall Butcher in Clifton Village. He moved over from Jo'burg 25 years ago and makes his own boerwors and excellent dried sausage and biltong.

OH yes hedgemonkey you know what I am talking about . You cant beat boerewors. Its just lovely WHen you in SA you just take it for granted that butchers sell boerewors. What else would they be selling? ? My mates dont believe me when i tell them you dont get boerewors here in butchers and it has to be a custome jobby or the butcher must have a South african working for him or be a expat to be making it they all laugh at me back in SA. ;D

We noticed (don't go into town much on a Saturday) a new stall in our market selling Boerewors ... by the time we got there yesterday he'd sold out. Really pleased for him, but we'll have to get up earlier next week! He's obviously of SA extraction from his accent. Looking forward to it next week :^)
