See see seee I told you Rivergirls house is the place to be for good food.
SOunds a bit like my house in the summer . Sometimes i actually wonder if I am running a B&B. But the bank balance doesnt reflect it . Yes its the same friends that come and visit are also put to work . And I have to give credit to my friends they also never turn up empty handed. Some time they over do it well i am not complaining . Yes we have a term in Afrikaans "bring and braai " You bring what ever you want bbq and I will bbq it for you or the host is the person that does the bbq. It works well if you bbq a lot as you cant cater for everybody and you will be bankrupt . But you will provide the basics Boerewors and a few other type of meats and then the bits that go with the bbq. So if somebody wants extra or diffrent type cuts steaks they can bring their own. But you can also say today is a non bring and braai so will do everything and if you want to bring a salad or desert you more than welcome . I like the fact that people just know that if you say its bring and braai they dont get offended .
But one thing you will never ever get at somebodys house in SA is a burger . I have never seen burgers done on the bbg my entire life till i came here !!!!!!!!!!!!!

come to our place in blighty we had a family of six that used to come with one packet of burgers or sausages and then proceed to gnash through the stuff others brought!!! Before they had a look in For a few weeks we did you ate what you brought !! They soon learnt!! Other than that incidence all the meats get put on a huge tin platter that I got from ikea and everyone shares. I love Sundays when the table groans under food ,laughter and yakking.
