SO this week during the mad storms in Ireland . where thousands of people were left with out phone lines and electricity due to the bad weather I decide to make a lamb shank potjie / dutch oven outside . I chose the worst day and there is proof in the youtube clip that I have somewhere in the middle of recording . The Potjie is a term used in South Africa for the cast iron dutch oven pot . Its slow cooking what ever you want . I did the lamb shank in it for almost 7 hours and was so lovely . The best thing was that I had some for lunch again the nxt day . My only regret is that I cant give every single person that reads this a taster . Oh it was so nice . ENjoy and please share of your Potjie /Dutch oven cooking if you have . The taste from a cast iron pot on the fire is so diffrent to cooking the same meal in a pot on the hob in the house ;D bbqmasterclass.net/lamb-shank-potjie-aka-dutch-oven/

....you deserve a medal for cooking outdoors in that weather. The lamb looked really nice and I love those pots.....or Potjie.

It must be shank week as I have pulled a few out for valentines.! Will either be doing mine on my log burner or the bread oven. It all depends if I can find the time to organise a bit of a cook in for Bert the bread oven.
