I bought a pre constucted oven last year and decided against a chimney - now I'm not so sure I was right. Is it possible to retro fit ? Any advice would be much appreciated. Attachments:

These have a valve on top that a chimney would go against? or is that only on the ovens with the chimney?
if not you can always build an outer arch that houses a chimney which is how you would build one normally.
Is this oven built into a stand, or do you have any size or technical limitations onto how / what you could build?

I would love to get my hands on one of these Potuguese ovens that come from Lisbon. I think a retro fit would be a must......but you have to know what your doing.
There are many models which come from the same factory....some without vents, and some with vents. The one's with vents have (I think) a damper system incorperated with them. Most of the models need extra insulation and need waterproofing.
As turkey mentioned you can "add" an arch which incorperates a vent, but you have to keep an eye on the 63% rule of arch/opening height to height of dome.
I hope to be acquiring one of these Portuguese modular ovens soon,(which I want to adapt to my own retro fit) so until then I would say that a retro fit is possible......as long as you understand the make-up of a modular refractory dome.
