I’ll measure up for you tomorrow but what you really need to know is the size of the one you’re buying. If it’s the same as mine then the disc bit is cast iron so there’s no room for adjustment at the disc end. You’ll need to match the original rod.

I have the 5inch damper that pizza oven supplies from what i remember its the same as this one below So my thinking is i will just bend a new rod slightly longer to take up the extra thickness of the insulated flue or depending how deep i put it into the flue i am wondering if it could be welded to the new rod? but then its in there for good.

Understood. I thought you had a 6 inch and it was just that the 6” single handle wasn’t long enough to go through the twin wall. If they’re only £15 I be inclined to buy the 6” and then still do what you say and extend their rod for the extra width of the twin wall.
Not sure how well cast iron welds to other metals. I’m sure it’s possible with the right rods if you can TIG. Regardless I suspect that making the longer rod is the easier option.

Mine would appear to be 6mm. Worth trying to get it in stainless if you can. Harder to bend but shouldn’t be a great issue at that size. Mine looks like it was either galvanised or zinc plated.

Hi Truckcab,
So that's the flue sorted out. Got the 5-6inch increaser in place and the rest of the flue ready to go. Just waiting on the high temp flashing to arrive then will get it all built in.
Unfortunately due to the current situation this is all grinding to a halt, nursery shut and wife working from home is not leaving me much time 🙁 plenty of time to stare through the window looking at the next steps.
I will update pictures soon.
Thanks for the help.
Oh also waiting on S/S bar arriving for the damper.

Shame about the current situation but it is what it is. Mine seemed to take forever, but mostly due to poor weather.
If you find half an hour here and there then do SOMETHING. Even if you lay one brick it feels like it moving on. At least you might be able to get that damper rod/hinge made.
Good luck with it. Keep well.

Well it never worked. I could not get the double bend tight enough even using heat. It would not hold the damper to secure enough for my liking.
My mate says he can weld it together so going with that plan of attack. Back to work now, so will update with pizza build when I get there.
Thanks for all the help.

Sounds good. What’s the finish on the parts though? He’ll have to grind of the stove enamelling if it’s the same as mine, before welding. Can always repaint with VHT though.

I'm probably a bit late to this discussion but on my Milan 750 I modified the dome and fit a 6" flue from end to end with a single to twin wall before it went through the roof. I didn't use it much with the 5" flue but the area increase for a 6" is about 45% and I still get some smoke out the front with the 6" so I think it was worthwhile. build linkI got all my flue parts from eBay (Planet Stoves) and the modification to the dome was messy but easy with any imperfections covered with fire cement
