Proposed new material list

I shall be preparing a new list of materials to present to Jewsons in Early August 2013 so as every single item can be viewed on 1 page with it's discounted price attached.

Unfortunately most of the refractory products needed for a bread/pizza oven build are not a stock item but can be ordered. They are cheaper anyway at "Kilnlinings" I shall include them anyway.

Below is a list of items which I think should be included on the list. I would appreciate any help in any additions members can add to this list (it doesn't have to be just for oven building). The list can be edited by any staff member to bring it up to date.(edit's won't appear as a new post so won't take up space on the "recent topics" ....

Not sure how applicable these are, but if people want to make their own countertops then you'll need a strong concrete mix.
Hanson 40N Concrete Mix or Lafarge 40N concrete mix.

Also make sure melamine backed board is included in the sheet materials!

Would love to see a price list (inc VAT) would be very useful.

I think everything is applicable.......It's just a bit awkward that they have asked me to itemise everything before they can give me (us) a full list of the discounted prices.

The help from Duncan, Adm and Dunnes have really helped compile this list. (if it isn't added yet it soon will be). I'll let this run a little longer for a few more idea's or.....perhaps we can "bundle" other items like screws, nails, etc.?

I may even ask Gareth Owens (who was manager of Newport branch when I opened the account, but is now head office staff)...to compile the new list. He is more "in sync" with our needs. (I may even be really cheeky and ask Danno to attend this meeting but that would be difficult as I know he's miles away from Cardiff)...

Just a few I've used or am looking for:

Slate? Roofing tiles?
Wood beams for the roof?
Marble/Granite countertops?
Sheet aluminium and/or plywood for the peels?
Floor tiles to go in front (or maybe stone pavers? or shale pavers)
Concrete waterproofer (used in the slab)
HAC/CAC cement? (ciment fondu)
Diamond polishing disks?
Copper nails (for the roof)
Copper flashing!!! (pita to find nowadays)

Terry, i'd love to be able to help you in this way, but we're almost about as far apart as two people can be in this fair isle!
If i were less involved with the family etc, and fuel was the price of 10 years ago, i'd be there.

I don't mean to be dragging my feet on this issue as I know the discount account has been very useful to many members up and down the country in the past. It was set up purely for this reason so as members outside the building trade could get discounted trade prices in any Jewsons store in the UK.

I think I have enough initial input from members to thrash out a new deal with Jewsons. I'll try to make an appointment within the next few weeks to create the new discount account.

Until that date the current forum trade discount account (woop 248) will still be valid, but since Jewsons restructure of trade prices, not all the % discounts will be the same.

I just got a quote for 200 firebricks from jewson....WITH the 50% discount it was an eye watering £745 for 200 bricks. Definitely recommend shopping around!

I know! Insane price! I. Have just bought 200 bricks from eBay (potteryprouk) at £1.26 each and 2x 25kg fire cement for £33 each
