Hello All, Im here looking for advice as most are. Im thinking of taking the easy route and buying a pre-made oven (already in everyones bad books) Unless of course I can be talked out of it! I have a budget of about £500. Looking at the price of some of the materials, i cant help thinking that is roughly what it would cost to build. Bearing in mind I am not a good salvage seeker, so would be buying online from merchants. I have seen Portuguese 80cm pre-made clay oven for about £500.00, but i have no idea if i am just wasting my money. Im sure most of you would have seen one of these on ebay and such like They certainly are not made to the standards, or with the fire bricks that i have seen on this forum. But they are premade and ready to go! Sooooo, any advice on this matter would be helpful! thanks, Paul!

hi paul welcome to the forum that does look a smart oven for the price it all depends on what you want to use your oven for and how much you will use use it should determine your answer here if its just the odd pizza here and there these things are great but if your after baking and just basicaly using it as an outdoor oven then there are a few things to consider mainly insulation these ovens dont come with much if any so the cost spirals as you then have to re cover the oven but do your research on them there are many out there plus companys in the uk that sell them hope this helps

I think Lee has covered it. The only issue I read somewhere when researching was the lack of insulation with these ovens. For the money they do look tempting but I do wonder how well they will stand up to a British winter. It would be good the hear from anyone with one ....
