That's one thing I like about WFO's, particularly those detailed on this forum; no-one approaches them from the same start point. I know there is usually a stand, then a dome, arch etc but there seems to be more creative flair, particularly when it comes to the materials used.
Will follow with interest, just make sure there a way of removing the template at an appropriate point.

G'day Well that's a tidy piece of work! After your efforts the oven going to be easy enough. Recon the base really takes a lot of effort. The pics don't show the amount of material you moved into position to build that support for the dome. Trust me the dome will be easier on the back. You'll have to slow down and mix smaller batches of mortar and take your time. Well done
Regards dave

Been very busy with work so not much progress I have added 4" thermolites for insulation and just ordered fire bricks insulation etc. from Kiln Linings so work can resume on the oven soon.

Has anyone built an inset BBQ with the ability to raise and lower the coals?

When I first decided to build the oven I wanted to get as near mortar free as possible doing a few calculations the side arch bricks from Kiln linings 76mm/64mm work out about perfect for a 42" oven so although a bit more expensive 2 less cuts to make and a good fit.
