Nice work. It is good when you get to this part, as you can start to see how the ideas that were in your mind or on a piece of paper will look once you're finished.

reclaimed bricks really do look good when finnished, a real rustic look to them.
Glad to see you have had a small break in the rain there to get some work done.

Your build is really starting to take shape. I like those meaty lintels you used.
Going back on some of your previous posts I missed, a lot depends on the type of sand in your area to the ratio used with 1 part cement, lime and powdered fire-clay......I've recently been using the homebrew mix, but the same in that area (London) is very fine pit sand. I pushed the ratio to 5/6 : 1 : 1: 1.....to avoid the mix cracking.
In my region (S.Wales)..."Wick's" do a... "sharp sand" which is very grainy....this is perfect for a 3 : 1 : 1 : 1 ratio.(and the best type of sand in my opinion).....so perhaps you may want to adjust the ratio of sand depending on it's type.

I used 3 parts wickes builders sand and it cracked a bit, was nice to work with tho.
it never occoured to me till after the fact the sand required might have been sharp, I assumed builders the same for laying bricks, but with the large gaps it was not perfect but set perfectly solid in the end.

Cannyfradock -Turkey . Thanx. Yes the reclaimed bricks are more than 140 yrs old. yes lintels are beefy but have to add more to be right for the job. Hopefully it will be ok in the end ;D I know what you mean re the sand . Its not my normal sand supply and it was a little bit rough but fo rthe pizza oven i will be using reallay fine sand. Also see my template re dome for bbq . Because the pizza oven has a dome or barrel it will fit in with the bbq. Attachments:
