Recon its cost me about £400 up to now. I've got 2 bags of perlite and 2 bags of fire cement 1 bag of vermiculite. I bought some blankets 610mm x 3360x50mm x 2 for £90 delivered. They are only 93 kg not the 127kg that would be better.

Fire brick grog is smashed up fire bricks, crushed to 1mm or above. I used 1mm, it's like dust really. I don't understand why everyone goes on about home brew.I payed £12-50 for fire cement and same price for grog. So that's £25 for 50kg of materials

I wish I could get materials that cheap. The drawback with calcium aluminate cement is its high cost and reduced working time. Because it's so temperature dependent I usually have to add chilled water to keep it from going off too fast (we live in the tropics)

Yes it soon goes off,I mixed it more like paste. I've been told that if it comes into contact with portland cement it goes off instantly

I suppose that's the difference between an experienced builder and the rest of us WFOers, the speed of progress. What's the plan for the exterior ? We will of course expect something commensurate with your proven skills !
