Put the pot on the other day. Had pizza tonight, made my own dough. It was slightly thick base, I moved the fire and popped it in. The base burnt before the top was done, the rest of the pizzas were .

Your oven will still be drying out for some considerable time but it will become more consistent with use; having got it up to temp it's good practise to clear back the embers and let it stabilise before putting in your first pizza. Having said that I've just done a couple of plain bases to test the temp, spread them with garlic butter after cooking ! Followed by a further 30 pizzas :-)

Try not placing the first pizza deep into the oven, but partly in the entry. As the sting is reduced on the floor subsequent pizzas can be pushed further in. Try the semolina test. ie. Cast 1/4 tsp of semolina onto the centre of the floor. 3 secs for it to turn black is ideal. 2 secs= too hot, 4secs = not hot enough. A good trick to impress guests.

Yes I'm still learning, there's still steam coming out of the things vermicrete layer I have, is it good practice to dry the oven out before I put blanket on and other layers.

I'd say yes, but many builders complete the whole thing without drying it out at all: to me it makes sense to exclude what moisture you can (and eat pizza) before a topcoat. I used my bare dome for a year before I got around to an insulation layer and waterproof finish.

Yes I'm still learning, there's still steam coming out of the things vermicrete layer I have, is it good practice to dry the oven out before I put blanket on and other layers. It probably doesn't make that much difference, but I prefer to drive out the water with the insulation on because as you end up drying the top of the oven first there is a huge difference in temperature between the top and the bottom of the dome which of course leads to uneven expansion. The insulation helps to even out the temperature more. An uninsulated flue tile or chimney is more prone to cracking for this reason so although a brick dome is much thicker the same principle applies. The downside is that it is a bit harder for the moisture to escape. If doing an igloo style with wet vermicrete over the blanket you have to drive the water off this layer as well. So that means more curing fires after insulation anyway..
