then last week after rain had ruined the bricks (day laid them it rained and washed cement onto faces) have get acid and clean them. on rightis pizza ove. i will be puttin a 4x4 lintel in middle of oven base before pour slab spannins the walls fo extra support. I hope pour slab this weekend or ext week depending on weather as bad here. On left is a bbq. it will be a prep area inbetween pizza oven and extreme left the pitt with a height adjustable grill running off a chain and handle. Attachments:

all walls will be 5-6 bricks highter around bbq and capped with a slate slad.
then may build a small shelter over area so can be used in winter and keep oven dry
next decision is build brick oven or buy modular sections and finish outside in bricks.
modular oven works out 30% cheaper than a brick oven and faster.

have been thinking there for while. i have old red brick that are frogged was looking at filling the frog with high heat mortar or vermaculite mix. then lay them on their side for a base on top of a vermaculite hearth. then dry lay terratotta tiles (.9inch thick) over them for cooking surface. that way i would have a base made and when take the 55 fire bricks i have i would only need about 120 more to build a 35inch dome. then insulation and few bags vermaculite to make outer remder. Ok so i plan build my oven in few weeks. waiting for weather get better so i can pour support slab 1st.
My plan is as follows.
36" inner floor diameter
16.2" height (90% of rad dome height)
10.2" max curved door height (63% dome height)
Brick arched outer arch for chimney with slanted inner walls for draft efficency and 6" flue
4" vermacrete base under firebrick cooking floor
split bricks for dome
3" incul blanket and a 3-4" vermacrete finish
so by the forno instructions i need sht efoolow
120 full bricks for dome 60 full bricks for floor
is this enough brick?
180 total for oven and 30-50 std bricks for arch. i have hundreds on normal brick for external arches and decroative work
Its just number of fire brick i need i want make sure i have right

John, the brick number looks about right but always difficult to say for certain. I used 200 (1 spare) for a 42"internal dia wfo but also but the short flue stack in firebrick, I think I only finished up only messing up 1 cut badly so that the firebrick was not useable at all.

Sadly mine maybe 32in as walls were built for barrel oven so total width is 53inches
So 32 + 4 each sidr for brick, 3 all round insul and 4in vermaculite dat b 54inch
Here my base. Just poured it. Was looking and think rebar supports fallen to bottom so rear 1/3 the rebar be at bottom slan hope doesnt affect strenght. Fact 1 layer rebar tied to bottom one least the cross member re ar be 1/2 - 1inch in concrete

John
As long as there is re-bar in the concrete it should be fine. Being exacting is nice, but having re-bar......will give enough strength to the concrete.....even if it has slipped a little.
I also agree that you have more than enough bricks.
Don't know Jack shit about loading images from a phone...sorry. Perhaps the "clever one's" may read your post and help you out.
